Russia’s 2020 agriculture crop to meet local demand, full exports

MOSCOW, Oct 8 (PRIME) – Russia’s agriculture crop in 2020 will not only satisfy local demand but implement export potential fully, Agriculture Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at a government meeting on Thursday.

"We expected to harvest at least 82 million tonnes of wheat in 2020, which exceeds 2019 by 7.5 million tonnes. As for plans for other types of agriculture products, according to calculations of the regions, the potato harvest will stand at about 22 million tonnes, the oil bearing crops up to 21.5 million tonnes," Patrushev said.

"The planned harvest will help us fulfill all target requirements set by the state food program, this amount will meet domestic needs and implement export potential fully."  

The minister also said that the winter sowing was finished in 34 regions and continued in 28 regions. The sown area stands at 14.3 million hectares out of the planned 19.2 million hectares.
